ABC has canceled “Charlie’s Angels,” the network announced Friday.
The network axed the series after just four episodes due to low ratings.
The cancellation is one of the first few of the new television season, after “The Playboy Club” and “Free Agents” among others, and the first made by ABC.
The show, which starred Minka Kelly, Annie Ilonzeh and Rachael Taylor, was a remake of the popular 1970s series with a slight twist. It aired on Thursdays at 8 p.m., where it went against CBS’ “Big Bang Theory” and NBC’s “Community.” (Source)
Very exciting news Minka fans! Searching for Sonny is finally getting a premiere. No word on if Minka or Jason or any of the other stars of the film will make an appearance at the festival but I will be sure to let you all know as soon as I find out.
I am so happy, proud, and fired up to announce the World Premiere of “Searching for Sonny.” Austin Film Festival has to be one of my favorite film festivals, if not my favorite. First of all, it’s chaired by my writing hero, Shane Black, who wrote Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, a film I was incredibly inspired by when dreaming up Searching for Sonny. Secondly, it’s in the coolest city in America: Austin, Texas. I think few can dispute that claim, and if they do, they’re probably only saying so in spite and/or jealously (though Fort Worth, is a close second.) Last of all, I love AFF because it truly is a festival full of people who love film. This is an incredibly accessible event where professionals, amateurs, and film-lovers come together to share, rejuvenate, and marvel together at the silver screen. I truly believe that.
Minka will be a busy girl next week! Not only is she scheduled to be on Regis & Kelly on the 22nd, I have since learned that she will be one of the presenters at the Primetime Emmys this Sunday (September 18th) and will be a guest on The Late Show With David Letterman on the 21st.
September 22nd will be a busy day for the Minka Kelly Network. Not only is it the premiere date of Minka’s new show Charlie’s Angels, it appears that it will also be the day that our girl will be a guest on Regis & Kelly.

After today’s TCA panel for NBC’s Prime Suspect, the series’ executive producer Peter Berg confirmed that a movie version/sequel to his critically acclaimed NBC/DirecTV drama series Friday Night Lights, which recently ended its five-season run, is in active development. The movie is on track and the script is being written, Berg said. “We’re very serious about trying to do it,” he said, with a goal of going into production next year. The project would be produced by Universal Pictures — the studio behind the 2004 movie starring Billy Bob Thornton — and Imagine, with Brian Grazer producing. It would feature the cast of the series led by Emmy nominees Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton.
There is no mention who else from Dillon will be making an appearance but let’s keep our fingers crossed for Lyla to show up!
ABC has released their schedule for this week’s day of panels which takes place on August 7th. A panel for Charlie’s Angels is on the list but there is no information on whether or not Minka will be in attendance. I will update you all as soon as I find out.
